HOMARE-CHAN

Homare-chan is Vreeza's pet really big frog. Technically an eldritch being from the nightmare dimension, Homare-chan is nonetheless just the nightmare dimension version of a frog, and not plotting anything sinister. Vreeza found it in the swamp, mistook it for a normal frog that was simply very large, and brought him into the house. Although they have now been informed he is from the nightmare dimension and may be very dangerous, Vreeza has not used this information for anything other than "cool fun fact to tell people about my pet frog." Homare-chan's gender is unknown and any pronouns are okay for it, although Vreeza most often refers to it using it/its (because it is a frog) or he/him (because he is named after a man).

Personality

Generally speaking, Homare-chan is a well-behaved and easygoing frog. It spends most of its time sitting around the house and enjoys hopping on top of furniture. However, it is important for Vreeza to keep him well-fed, because if he is hungry he will try to eat whatever he finds lying around. Homare-chan is used to Vreeza and will occasionally even be somewhat affectionate towards them, and it is generally tolerant of other people as long as they do not eat in front of it without sharing or otherwise provoke it. If adequately provoked, Homare-chan will fight back, and because it is so large this can be dangerous.

History

Vreeza found Homare-chan out in the swamp, where it promptly attempted to eat their cell phone. After retrieving the phone, they decided to bring the frog in the house, as it was the biggest frog they'd ever seen and they figured it might make a good pet, particularly since it didn't bite their arm off when they took the phone away (unlike the last animal they tried to keep as a pet, an alligator). They believed it to be a normal frog that was just unusually large, as it sure looked like a frog to them, although an online friend later corrected them about this.

Vreeza assumed that the frog they'd adopted already had a name, but just couldn't tell them since it didn't speak either English or their own native language. For this reason, they did not name it for weeks. One day, they mentioned this in chat, and were informed that you have to give your pet a name if you want it to have one. Unable to think of a good name for a frog, they asked the chat for name ideas. As a result, Homare-chan is named after a character from the Yakuza games who was in the chat room at the time. Another character suggested this as a joke to make fun of him but Vreeza did not pick up on the suggestion not being serious and named their frog that immediately.

When Vreeza fled to Dragon Island to avoid the police for a few weeks, they brought Homare-chan with them, since obviously they couldn't leave him home alone. Although for the most part it enjoyed the vacation, there was one incident in which Josh, a dragon who Vreeza has long-standing beef with, approached it and poked it repeatedly, aggravating it. Homare-chan responded by attacking and biting Josh until he ran away crying. Vreeza caught the entire thing on camera but could not post it to YouTube since the existence of the dragons is supposed to be secret.
